Jesse’s N**** Mess

So Jesse’s use of the n-word somehow got leaked, and this is the same J.J. who was a proponent of burying the said n-word.

What say you ladies and gentlemen of the jury?

Does J.J. get a pass? Is the word alright for private but not public? Does the word maintain its “for use by Black folks only” status? What gives?

Please, weigh in.

  1. it shouldn’t beused period

I watched the discussion on The View this morning and Whoopi and Sherri were both saying how it’s a term that they use that Blacks can use because it doesn’t have the same meaning as when Whites use it. I guess it’s safe to say that you disagree.

  2. i have heard that argument before… i just think the N word should be eliminated all together… to go on and say its ok for certain groups in society to use it!?!?!
dunno what kind of discrimination that it, I’d call it linguistic discrimination…
if we want people to respect us, we need ton begin by respecting ourselves, and not encourage people to demeaning words like that… it’s hypocrisy really.

I respect that as I’ve never been a fan of the word but have definitely used it. After white suburban kids started thinking it was alright, I stopped because I saw its effect. If I were to use it now, it would not be an endearing term. I would mean it in the most derogatory way possible so as to be clear that it’s an intended insult. I would prefer to say it rather than n-word in a discussion of its usage, but as far as reincorporating it into my vocabulary? I’m not too interested in that. I think you’re on to something about the self-respect, but I also think that goes into far more areas than just the use of n*****.

  3. I don’t use the N-word and I wish other black folk would stop using it, too. We can’t have it both ways. Jesse’s in need of some counseling.

I had to snicker at Jesse needing counseling. I guess that’s what old and bitter looks like–Jesse.
